This was a remarkable life moment for me. It is 1993 in Hoi An, Vietnam. I shot this on Fuji 400 transparency film from which i have made a high definition scan for printing. We have the 40×60cm version hanging in our sitting room, it is striking and so very present.
This little girl was intrigued by my hideous north European features. She was beautiful. I photographed her from across the cobbled street with my 300mm lens as I ate the noodle soup her mother had just sold me. Her mum was the soup barrow woman and she was pleased for me to take a couple of shots of her daughter.
